The Good Things Grocer story
Bringing gourmet food and good coffee to the south Brisbane ‘burbs.
Introducing Kym & Sarah - two good things
Food is who we are at Good Things.
After a decade running a successful hospitality business across the border, the universe sent us back to Brisbane’s beautiful southside. Arriving back in the neighbourhood, we wanted to create a food store to bring all the good things to locals in the community.
All the good things. All the time.
We want Good Things Grocer to be a grocery shopping trip you actually want to go on: everyday treats, all the foodie essentials, fresh produce and gourmet deli goodness that you just can’t help dropping into your basket. All served up with a healthy dose of bloody good service and even better Allpress coffee. And flowers, because you always need flowers.
The foodie family
Kym comes from a long line of foodies. In fact, her Mum and Grandma have been selling the family’s produce at the famous Jan Powers Farmers Markets in New Farm, Brisbane for over 20 years (we’re looking at you, Sandy Creek Gourmet Produce). You can expect to see Kym’s dad wandering the aisles of Good Things Grocer or snapping awkward selfies from the farm. Paddock to plate isn’t just a phrase around here - we live it.
Sarah’s got the foodie scene in her bones, too. It’s a bit of a given, coming from Melbourne. She’s been working in the hospitality industry for nearly three decades, so she’s learnt what good food and coffee means to people.
We’ve been running cafes together for the past 15 years. Our first foodie venture was Apples, just over the hill in Salisbury. From there, we headed down to the Northern Rivers and opened Flock, a much-loved favourite of locals and visitors alike in the Mullumbimby and Lismore area. But some good things come to an end, which allows other Good Things to begin.
Welcome to our table
We want Good Things Grocer to feel as welcoming as your best friend’s kitchen table. Combine great food, great hospitality and an easy, relaxed vibe. That’s what we’re going for here.
We want everyone to feel welcome at Good Things Grocer.
Let us make you a coffee and grab something delicious from the cabinet before you have a wander.
We’d love to say hi.
